Single

There is a beauty inside of me
That it seems no man will see.
A heart of warmth and gold,
A love yearning to unfold.

I know there’s more to me
Than what immediately meets the eye,
But for some reason,
They don’t think the prize to be worth the try.

Some days I stand in stillness,
Gazing at myself in the mirror
And wondering what it could possibly be about me
That makes guys want to steer clear.

I know I’ll never be the prettiest girl,
And my coolness is probably a bit lacking,
But I have so much love inside to give
And passion that seems worth matching.

So why is it that every night
I am lying in this bed all alone
Waiting and waiting for anyone to come forward
But just falling asleep clutching my phone?

People always try to tell me
He’s out there somewhere waiting,
This wonderful man who is worthy
Of all these nights my heart spends aching.

I suppose I’ll believe it when I see it,
When my goodnight, someone has a name.
Until that day comes, I can’t help but wonder
Will he really make up for all this pain?

Monologue: Once Upon a Time

Once upon a time, I was the happiest I would ever be, though at the time I didn’t know it. I had three of the best friends in the world: Alex, Lauren, and Kristin. I also had the best boyfriend I could have hoped for. His name was Kevin. Life was pretty magical that last year of high school. I had friends I wanted to be friends with for the rest of my life, I had a boyfriend girls would have given anything for, and it seemed almost certain that life would continue to be incredible for years to come. Life had other plans though, and it changed abruptly when I started college. I broke up with Kevin in a daze of insanity when I first got to college. To this day, I couldn’t tell you exactly why. All I remember is feeling lost and alone, and there was this boy there at school who seemed like he really wanted to be with me. And the Lists Begin...

hahaha before I actually start this blog, I would just like to post this text message exchange... Me: Tim we need to make more memories before I leave for college. Tim: Like babies! And now on to the real blog. Today, I started making lists concerning college (what to buy, what to pack, etc.) because that's what I do, and I decided to make a list of all the things I want to do before I leave for school.
